Fractures around the foot and ankle are very common. They can occur due to accidents or even missteps. The severity of a fracture and the associated soft tissue injuries makes the treatment of fractures in this region more complex than others.
Common sites include the metatarsal (toes), calcaneum (heel), talus and the ankle joint.

DIAGNOSIS |

The clinical suspicion will be confirmed with a plain radiograph. This is usually sufficient for diagnostic and pre operative planning.
In certain cases where the small joints are involved, a CT scan with 3D reconstruction may be required to plan for surgical reconstruction
